A Different Kind of Release From an English Distillery
Lancaster Spirits Co has announced its first cream liqueur, and it is a bit of a change of pace for the distillery. The new bottling is made with the distillery’s own single malt spirit and is set to arrive this Autumn. For a company known for its single malt, the move into cream liqueur is a clear step in a new direction.
The distillery describes the release as a smoother, more accessible way to enjoy its house character. That makes it a fit for people who already love whisky and for people who are just starting to explore it.
What Goes Into the Bottle
The liqueur starts with Lancaster Spirits Co’s signature single malt. That spirit is blended with a vegan cream base. The result, according to the distillery, is a velvety, full-bodied drink that shows off the depth and warmth of the spirit underneath.
The cream base is made without dairy, and the distillery says that does not come at the cost of flavour or texture. The goal was to let the single malt come through in a rich and indulgent style while keeping the drink balanced.
Why the Distillery Chose a Vegan Cream
The choice of a vegan cream base was deliberate. Lancaster Spirits Co says it reflects the distillery’s ongoing commitment to innovation and to making its range as inclusive as possible. In other words, the team wanted more people to be able to enjoy the drink, including those who avoid dairy.
The Numbers Behind the First Batch
The first batch is small. Only 1,000 bottles will be produced. Each one comes in a 50cl bottle and sits at 17% ABV. The recommended retail price is £25.00, which the distillery says is meant to let the liqueur sit comfortably alongside the rest of its range. It is also described as an approachable entry point into the Lancaster Spirits Co story.
With a run that limited, the distillery expects early interest to be high. Bottles from a batch this size are likely to go quickly once they are released.
The Team Behind the Liqueur
Two people at the distillery led the creative side of this project. Master blender Max McFarlane and distillery manager Craig Drake worked on the liqueur, and the launch gave them room to explore new creative territory beyond traditional whisky production.
Their job was to pair the distillery’s single malt with a carefully balanced cream base. The aim was a product that is still distinctly Lancaster Spirits Co in character, but that can be enjoyed on new occasions and by new audiences.
A Natural Next Step
The distillery calls the launch a natural evolution. Rather than moving away from what it does well, Lancaster Spirits Co is taking its single malt and presenting it in a different form. The core spirit stays at the center, and the cream liqueur simply gives it a new setting.
What the Distillery Is Saying
Chris Pateman, Commercial Manager at Lancaster Spirits Co., spoke about the thinking behind the release. He said: ‘’This is such a fun addition to our range. We wanted to create something that captures everything people love about our single malt, but in a completely different, more indulgent style. Using a vegan cream was really important to us; we didn’t want anyone to miss out, and we’re really proud of how smooth and balanced the final liqueur is. Because we’re starting with such a small first batch, this feels like a genuinely special release for us and for our customers.’’
His comments make it clear that the team sees this as more than just another product. The small size of the first run adds to that feeling, and the distillery treats it as a special moment for both the staff and its customers.
Timing and Availability
The single malt cream liqueur is planned for release in Autumn 2026. The distillery has said it will sell the liqueur directly, and further details on stockists are still to be confirmed closer to launch.
About Lancaster Spirits Co
Lancaster Spirits Co is an independent distillery based in Lancaster, England. It focuses on producing high-quality single malt spirit, and it puts weight on craft, character and transparency. Over time the distillery has built a loyal following around its core single malt range.
The cream liqueur builds on that following. The distillery describes it as an exciting new chapter in its ongoing story. For those curious about the distillery itself, Lancaster Spirits Co also offers distillery tours, which give visitors a closer look at how the spirit is made.
Why This Release Is Worth Watching
Many distilleries stick to one lane, and it can be hard for a small, independent producer to try something different without losing what made it popular. Lancaster Spirits Co appears to have taken a careful approach here. It kept its own single malt as the heart of the drink, chose a dairy-free base so more people can take part, and limited the first batch to 1,000 bottles.
For longtime fans of the distillery, the liqueur offers a new way to experience a spirit they already know. For anyone newer to single malt, the distillery points to the smoother, more approachable style as an easy way in. Either way, the release shows an independent English distillery willing to try something new while staying true to its character.
