Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey has announced an exciting new venture with the launch of their "Lost Chapter" series. This series of limited-edition whiskeys is designed to complement the recent success of the book "Love & Whiskey: The Remarkable True Story of Jack Daniel, His Master Distiller Nearest Green, and the Improbable Rise of Uncle Nearest" by Fawn Weaver, the founder and CEO of Uncle Nearest. The book, which has been a massive hit since its release on June 18, has topped the New York Times best-sellers list and is also a best-seller according to USA Today and Publisher's Weekly. It has even secured the top selling spot at Hudson Booksellers in airports nationwide.

The first release in the "Lost Chapter" series is "Lost Chapter 1 – 777," which hit the market on July 19. Priced at $139, this 7-year-old barrel strength whiskey, ranging between 110-120 proof, commemorates the seventh anniversary of Uncle Nearest's launch. Only 7,000 bottles have been made available, making it a highly sought-after item for collectors and whiskey enthusiasts. Buyers of this special edition will also receive a copy of "Love & Whiskey" along with an exclusive link to download the first unreleased chapter from the book.
Fawn Weaver expressed her gratitude and excitement over the book's reception, stating, "I've been absolutely floored by the reception of ‘Love & Whiskey’ — grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it. We’ve sold out tour stops across the country, and bookstores can’t seem to keep it stocked as the book continues to fly off the shelves. So, I’m thrilled to be sharing another piece of the Uncle Nearest story as we celebrate seven years."
For those unable to snag a bottle of "Lost Chapter 1 – 777," there’s still a chance to access the first lost chapter. Uncle Nearest will be rolling out new bottles of their Single Barrel Whiskey this summer, which will feature a neck tag with a code that unlocks the exclusive download link for the chapter. This Single Barrel Whiskey, priced at $89.99, is barrel strength and never watered down, offering a rich and varied proof for whiskey lovers. It has also received numerous accolades, including a gold medal at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and a platinum medal at the 2024 LA Spirits Awards.
Victoria Eady Butler, a fifth-generation descendant of Nearest Green and four-time Master Blender of the Year, spoke about the new release, saying, "This new release is a testament to our commitment to excellence, as we waited seven years to bottle this whiskey at the perfect time. I hope y’all will enjoy this special barrel strength blend while reading the rich story of our brand and the profound history of my great-great-grandfather. I just know he’d love this one."
Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey honors Nearest Green, the world’s first-known African American master distiller, and the brand has become a trailblazer in the spirits industry. Since its launch in 2017, Uncle Nearest has amassed over 1,200 awards, including 710 Gold medals or higher and 125 Best in Class honors, with an average critic's score of 90.5. About Uncle Nearest
Uncle Nearest is a premium American whiskey brand that pays homage to Nathan "Nearest" Green, an African American distiller who played a crucial role in the development of Tennessee whiskey. Recognized as the first known African American master distiller, Nearest Green's story was brought to light by Fawn Weaver, an entrepreneur and author, who founded the Uncle Nearest brand in 2017. The brand's mission is to honor Green's legacy and contributions to the whiskey industry while producing high-quality spirits that reflect his expertise.
The whiskey itself is crafted using traditional methods that Nearest Green would have employed, ensuring authenticity and quality in every bottle. Uncle Nearest offers a range of expressions, including the 1856 Premium Aged Whiskey, the 1884 Small Batch Whiskey, and the 1820 Single Barrel Edition. Each variant showcases a distinct flavor profile, with the 1856 being known for its rich notes of caramel, vanilla, and maple, while the 1884 offers a smoother, more approachable taste. The 1820 Single Barrel Edition, meanwhile, is a limited release that highlights the best of the brand's craftsmanship.
Uncle Nearest stands out not only for its exceptional whiskey but also for its dedication to historical accuracy and education. The brand has invested in extensive research and storytelling to ensure Nearest Green's contributions are recognized and celebrated. This includes the establishment of the Nearest Green Distillery in Shelbyville, Tennessee, which serves as both a production facility and a museum dedicated to Green's legacy and the history of Tennessee whiskey.
The brand's commitment to honoring Nearest Green extends beyond whiskey production. Uncle Nearest actively supports initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion within the spirits industry. This includes the creation of the Nearest Green Foundation, which offers scholarships and educational opportunities to descendants of Nearest Green and other underrepresented groups. Through these efforts, Uncle Nearest not only commemorates a significant figure in whiskey history but also fosters a more inclusive future for the industry.
