During the holiday season - finding the perfect winter drink is a noble effort. I may have found the perfect sip. Jack Daniel Distillery introduces the latest Distillery Series offering, a Tennessee Straight Rye Whiskey Finished in High Toast Maple Barrels.
The 14th in the series it is made with the traditional Tennessee Rye Whiskey grain bill of 70% rye, 12% malted barley and 18% corn and is charcoal mellowed before entering into a new, charred American white oak barrel. Then the whiskey was placed into barrels a second time - this one being a high-toast, no-char maple barrel to finish atop Tanyard Hill. It rested for an additional three years to achieve a complex rye whiskey with a unique, lasting flavor. This was first released in 2022 as part of the Distillery Series, this rye whiskey was then finished in a high toast maple barrel for an additional 20 months from that original release.
“Here at the Jack Daniel Distillery, we have the ability to experiment and pull different levers to innovate all along the whiskey making process, from grains all the way to the barrel. In this latest Distillery Series release, high toast maple barrels accentuate our award-winning rye whiskey while drawing out unprecedented seasonal flavors that lead to a special experience.” ~ Chris Fletcher, Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller
