Rhode Island-based Sons of Liberty Spirits Co. has announced an exciting addition to its core lineup: a new Bourbon Whiskey. This Bourbon, bottled at 94 proof and finished with toasted oak staves, marks the first release in their Barrel Selection Series. This series is dedicated to enhancing the flavor of whiskey by handpicking barrels from other distilleries and finishing them in-house.
Mike Reppucci, the President and Founder of Sons of Liberty, explained the process in a recent news release. “For this Bourbon, we have selected barrels, and will continue to select barrels, that match a flavor profile we are looking for,” Reppucci stated. “We then bring them in house to finish them with a blend of toasted oak staves to complement and enhance the starting Bourbon.”
Sons of Liberty has been crafting a variety of spirits, including whiskies, gins, and vodkas, since 2011. However, this new method of finishing whiskey barrels is a first for them. “This is a new adventure for us,” Reppucci said, “and we’re really fired up to use our knowledge and experience acquired over the years to be able to offer a great tasting Bourbon at a great price.”
The new Bourbon is described on the label as bold yet approachable, with notes of toasted vanilla and caramel. It is available in 750ml bottles at Rhode Island liquor stores with a suggested retail price of $39.99.
