The Rum Barrel Finished Bourbon is the second barrel-finished bourbon offered by Peerless, following the success of their Double Oak Bourbon. The process involves aging their bourbon in two different casks, which allows for a richer extraction of flavors and enhances the complexity of the bourbon. The Peerless tasting team meticulously selects barrels that complement the added character from the rum barrels, ensuring a balanced and flavorful product that upholds the Peerless reputation.
Carson Taylor, the fifth-generation president of Peerless, expressed his enthusiasm about the new release: "Our team of distillers has done an exceptional job curating the barrels for this project. Their passion is evident through our selection of barrel-finished expressions. The Rum Barrel Finished Bourbon offers a nice, balanced palate. Not too overwhelming, this easy sipper pairs perfectly with the warmer weather. We look forward to sharing it with you and hope you enjoy it as much as we do."
Peerless Rum Barrel Finished Bourbon Batch 2 features a complex aroma profile with notes of salt water taffy, sweet florals, and pears, accompanied by undertones of toasted coconut and plums. The taste experience starts with flavors of sliced pineapple reminiscent of an upside-down pineapple cake, followed by cinnamon bread and cherry reduction. A second sip brings forward the essence of a piña colada with hints of burnt sorghum, blueberry reduction, and a touch of sweet mint, concluding with a tropical fruit finish.

About the Brand Peerless
The Peerless brand has a rich history dating back to the 1880s when it was first established by E.W. Worsham & Co. in Henderson, Kentucky. Despite facing challenges during Prohibition, the brand was revived in 2014 by Corky and Carson Taylor, who refurbished a historic building in downtown Louisville and obtained the original Kentucky Distilled Spirits Plant Number (DSP-KY-50). Since then, Peerless has garnered attention for its commitment to traditional distilling methods and innovative approaches, including the use of a sweet mash process and low barrel entry proof. With each release, Peerless continues to honor its legacy while pushing the boundaries of bourbon craftsmanship, earning a dedicated following among enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike.
