Jimmy Russel has been a master distiller for over sixty years, but he was also a guiding figure for Jim Beam’s Master Distiller, Fred Noe. Despite the marketplace rivalry between Jim Beam and Wild Turkey there’s an undeniable bond between the two distillers.
“Once at a bourbon festival, Jimmy came up to Dad and me and poured out three glasses of a whiskey he wanted us to taste. It was some real nice stuff, and when Dad asked what it was, Jimmy said it was something new he was working on, something special. I thought it was pretty cool to bring a new product to a competitor and ask what they think. It showed me the importance of trust and camaraderie, and just how much those old timers respected each other.” ~ Fred Noe, Jim Beam’s Master Distiller
Jimmy’s Batch is a 125.8-proof bourbon made from three different production dates that were matured in four warehouses. This is a cask-strength bourbon that was matured for approximately seven years in new, charred American white oak barrels.
Here are the blend details:
- 12% came from the 5th floor of 7-story warehouse Z
- 20% came from the 5th floor of 7-story warehouse 1
- 46% came from the 3rd floor of 7-story warehouse 3
- 22% came from the 4th floor of 7-story warehouse Q
The tasting notes from the brand are as follows: A complex, bold sipping whiskey that begins with notes of toasted vanilla beans and gentle wintry spices. The palate is loaded with vanilla and caramel sweetness. The finish is a warming mix of sweetness and spice.
Jimmy’s Batch will be available in limited quantities in select retail locations. It joins Springfield Batch, The Beam House Batch and The Master Distiller Batch in the 2024 Booker’s lineup.
