The Jack Daniel Distillery has unveiled its highly anticipated 14-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey, marking a significant moment for the legendary brand. This release is the first time in over a century that Jack Daniel’s has offered a whiskey of this age, and it is part of this year’s Aged Series lineup. Alongside the 14-Year-Old, the lineup features the Jack Daniel’s 12-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey Batch 3 and 10-Year-Old Batch 4.
A Tribute to Jack Daniel’s Legacy
The introduction of the 14-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey honors the distillery’s rich heritage. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Jack Daniel’s offered a range of age-stated whiskeys. This modern release is a nod to that era, reintroducing a tradition that had been absent from the brand's portfolio for decades.
Chris Fletcher, Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller, explained the significance of the release:
“When we released our first Jack Daniel’s 10-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey a few years ago, we set out to honor the legacy of Jack Daniel himself and replicate the lineup of age-stated whiskeys available during his time. This year’s releases build upon that as we reintroduce our new 14-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey, the oldest age-statement for Jack Daniel’s in the last 100 years or more.”
Crafting the 14-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey
The 14-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey is crafted using the distillery's signature mash bill, which consists of 80% corn, 12% malted barley, and 8% rye. Following Jack Daniel's traditional Lincoln County Process, the whiskey is mellowed drop by drop through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal before aging in hand-selected barrels for over 14 years.
Bottled at a robust 126.3 proof (63.15% ABV), the extended aging process enhances the whiskey's complexity. The flavor profile showcases sweet bakery spices, aged oak, and pipe tobacco, complemented by hints of cinnamon and creamy butterscotch. A rich leathery texture and a long-lasting finish add depth to the experience.
Expanding the Aged Series
The Aged Series has become a highlight for whiskey enthusiasts, and this year’s lineup further builds on its success. In addition to the 14-Year-Old expression, the series includes:
12-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey Batch 3: Bottled at 107 proof (53.5% ABV), this whiskey offers creamy notes of pipe tobacco, seasoned oak, and butterscotch.
10-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey Batch 4: The mellowest of the trio, this whiskey is bottled at 97 proof (48.5% ABV) and delivers layers of dark fruit, oak, and bittersweet cocoa.
Both the 12-Year-Old and 10-Year-Old expressions share the same meticulous production process as the 14-Year-Old, highlighting Jack Daniel’s commitment to quality and tradition.
