Green River Distilling Co., one of Kentucky’s most historic distilleries, has unveiled its latest creation: the Green River Kentucky Straight Wheated Single Barrel Bourbon. This new release is a continuation of Green River’s tradition of producing quality whiskey with simple, timeless recipes, while also expanding their portfolio of barrel-strength offerings.
This unique single-barrel bourbon will be available in limited quantities starting February 13, 2025, exclusively through the Green River Distillery gift shop in Owensboro, Bardstown Bourbon Co. retail locations, and select private barrel programs.

A Closer Look at the New Bourbon
The Green River Kentucky Straight Wheated Single Barrel Bourbon is crafted using a mash bill of 70% local Kentucky corn, 21% winter wheat, and 9% malted barley. Aged for a minimum of five years, this bourbon is presented at barrel strength, with proof levels ranging from 110 to 130 (55%–65% ABV).
Tasting notes reveal an exceptional flavor profile characterized by ripe apricot and tangerine, layered over rich barrel tones of oak, cinnamon, and vanilla crème. Each barrel has its own unique flavor fingerprint, offering enthusiasts and connoisseurs a chance to experience a one-of-a-kind whiskey. The hallmark of this bourbon is its smooth, soft finish, complemented by the robust, full-proof character that Green River is known for.
A Limited Opportunity for Whiskey Lovers
Green River has limited production to just 100 barrels for 2025, making this release an exclusive opportunity for bourbon enthusiasts. These barrels are available for purchase by retailers, who can hand-select their barrels on-site at the Green River Distillery in Owensboro. Buyers have the choice between the distillery’s signature high-rye recipe or the new wheated mashbill, allowing for a tailored whiskey experience.
For those unable to purchase by the barrel, a small number of individual bottles will be available for $59.99 each. They can be purchased directly from Green River’s distillery gift shop, as well as Bardstown Bourbon Co. locations in Bardstown and Louisville.
Green River’s Growing Footprint
Green River Distilling Co. has a long history dating back to 1885, earning it the distinction of being the 10th oldest licensed distillery in Kentucky. Known as “The Whiskey Without Regrets,” the distillery celebrates its heritage while continuing to innovate.
After being acquired by Bardstown Bourbon Company in 2022, Green River has rapidly expanded its distribution. What began as availability in just four states has grown to include 45 states by 2025, with New Jersey and Washington being recent additions.
