The Green River Full Proof bourbon is crafted from a blend of five-to-seven-year barrels, carefully selected from specific areas of the company's Owensboro tile warehouses. These warehouses, which maintain both warm and cool temperatures, create unique conditions that contribute to the distinct proof variations and maturation of the bourbon. This process results in a robust flavor profile that captures the essence of the barrels, offering a pure expression that bourbon enthusiasts will appreciate.
The bourbon's mash bill consists of 70% corn, 21% rye, and 9% malted barley. The high rye content adds a spicy backbone, balanced by the sweetness of the corn and the softness of the barley. The initial batch is bottled at a potent 117.3 proof (58.65% ABV), providing a powerful yet smooth drinking experience. Priced at $49.99, this bourbon is set to be a regular offering from Green River.

To mark the launch, Green River Distilling Co. is hosting a special celebration at their Owensboro, Kentucky location on June 7, 2024. The event will feature two VIP tours at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., led by Head Distiller Aaron Harris and National Brand Ambassador Caryn Wells. Guests on these tours will get a behind-the-scenes look at Rickhouse B, enjoy a barrel strength tasting comparison, and receive a bottle of the new Green River Full Proof to take home. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., the distillery will open its doors to the community for music, food, and cocktails featuring the new release.
Green River Distilling Co., which was acquired by Bardstown Bourbon Company in July 2022, has been expanding its offerings and reach. Last year saw the launch of Green River Wheated and Full Proof Single Barrel bourbons, with distribution expanding within the U.S. and to Australia. This year, the company plans to expand to eight new markets, including Nevada, Arizona, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Washington, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and Massachusetts. Green River aims for nationwide U.S. distribution in the coming years.
