If you enjoy extremely rare and expensive whiskeys, you will be thrilled to hear about Old Commonwealth Distillery's most recent offering. This is because the brand's well-liked Colonel Randolph 16-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon is being re-released.
75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% malted barley make up the mash mix for this 106-proof single-barrel bourbon. Before being bottled, it is aged for sixteen years in brand-new, charred American oak casks.
The manufacturer claims that the end product is a sophisticated, unforgettable whiskey that starts with notes of coffee cake, almond butter, honey, brown sugar, caramel, cinnamon, and vanilla. It tastes like pecan pie, candied peaches, cherry syrup, and baked chocolate. Dark chocolate and maraschino cherries round out the long, lingering, and warm aftertaste.
“Our mission is to revive old brands as premium whiskey so you can drink history. Colonel Randolph is perfect for our growing portfolio, and we were thrilled when Gordon agreed to partner with us on this single barrel.” ~ Zachary Joseph, president of operations for Old Commonwealth Distillery
