Before you jump to any conclusions about celebrity whiskey (yes there are some pretty terrible ones) Bob Dylan’s Heaven’s Door is actually pretty good. Heaven’s Door produces a solid spirit and is doing some pretty interesting and unique finishes.

Since its 2018 launch, the brand has consistently pushed boundaries and defied expectations, embodying Bob Dylan's unwavering creative spirit. With unusual whiskeys and experimental finishes that defy expectations of what bourbon may be, each release in the Bootleg Series is a limited-edition gem.
The most recent iteration of this expensive whiskey line is called Bootleg Series VI. Dylan's "Favela Villa Candido" painting, which is a part of his Brazil Series, is depicted on the bottle, and the liquid within honors that nation as well. The 12-year-old wheated bourbon was aged in toasted Limousin oak cigar barrels, which the brand claims are commonly used to age Brazilian alcoholic beverages like cachaça. The barrels got their name from their form. Heaven's Door had previously finished its rye whiskey in those kinds of casks, but in this instance, the flavors are enhanced by the added sweetness from the wheated bourbon as well as baking spice, black pepper, dried fruit, stone fruit, dark chocolate, and espresso.
Heaven’s Door Bootleg Series VI (SRP $500) is available now at select retailers and websites like Total Wine.
