In an effort to increase its worldwide distribution, the independently held Virginia Distillery Company has chosen Charter Brands as its export partner. The "largest independently owned" American single malt whisky distillery in the United States is Virginia Distillery Co., which was established in 2011 and is situated in the center of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. Every year, 80,000 4.5-liter cases are produced. The goal of the Charter Brands partnership is to expand to new markets such as Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Africa, and Europe.
“We are excited to partner with Charter Brands to introduce our luxury offering, Courage & Conviction, and our premium range, Virginia Distillery Co, to international single malt whisky enthusiasts. With the recent TTB recognition of American single malt whisky as an official category, this collaboration is timely and significant. Building on our existing export efforts across Canada, South Korea, and Taiwan and leveraging Charter Brands’ international market expertise, we believe now is the perfect time to invest in global expansion. We are confident this partnership will elevate our brands’ presence and contribute to the growing worldwide appreciation of and interest in American single malt whisky.” ~ Gareth Moore, CEO of Virginia Distillery Company
The brand is part of Charter Brands' expanding global whisky range, which also includes Israeli Milk & Honey and Swedish Agitator whisky.
“We are delighted to welcome Virginia Distillery Co into the Charter Brands portfolio as we continue to build a world-class new-world whisky portfolio. American single malt whiskey as a category has tremendous potential, and the recent TTB ruling will only lend weight to our efforts in scaling this fantastic brand globally. We would like to thank the team at Virginia Distillery Company for the way in which negotiations have been handled, with a special mention to Andrew Meissner, chief commercial officer. Charter Brands will work tirelessly in the following years to ensure that we do the brand justice and that it commands a position central to the category internationally.” ~ Matt Ashton-Melia, managing director of Charter Brands
