A documentary to go along with it
The Macallan isn't just releasing a bottle and calling it a day. Alongside TIME : SPACE Sherry Cask, the brand is putting out a documentary called Mastery Beyond Reason, built to show the full journey behind its sherry cask program. The film is narrated by photographer Steve McCurry, a name many will recognize from decades of iconic photojournalism, and features celebrated sommelier Josep Roca.
The documentary follows the process from the oak forests and sawmills of America and northern Spain, through the cooperages and bodegas of Jerez de la Frontera, and finally to The Macallan Estate in Speyside, where the seasoned casks are filled with new-make spirit.
