Folk rock legend Neil Young will not be performing at the Bourbon & Beyond festival due to illness, as announced by the festival on June 26 via X, formerly known as Twitter. The 78-year-old artist, famous for hits like "Cinnamon Girl" and "Rockin' in the Free World," was scheduled to headline the festival's opening night on Thursday, September 19.
According to a statement on the band's website, members of Young's band, Crazy Horse, fell ill after their performance in Detroit on May 22, and they have not yet recovered. As a result, all remaining dates of their 2024 "Love Earth Tour" have been canceled, as confirmed by Ticketmaster.
"We are still not fully recovered, so sadly our great tour will have a big unplanned break," the band shared. "We will try to play some of the dates we miss as time passes when we are ready to rock again! We know many of you made travel plans, and we apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for your understanding and patience."
Festival organizers are working on finding a replacement for Young and encourage fans to stay tuned for an announcement. Despite this setback, the festival still boasts an impressive lineup with headliners such as Dave Matthews Band on Friday, September 20, Zach Bryan on Saturday, September 21, and Tyler Childers on Sunday, September 22. Other notable acts include Beck, Matchbox Twenty, Tedeschi Trucks Band, The National, The Beach Boys, Melissa Etheridge, and Young the Giant, ensuring a memorable experience over the four-day event.
Tickets, including weekend, single-day, and VIP passes, are still available for purchase. For more information on the festival, including the complete music lineup, additional experiences, and ticket packages, fans are encouraged to visit the festival's official website.
