5 Must-Try Drinks From 2025

2025 has been a solid year for drinks, fellas. From kicking back after a long day to sharing a cold one at the game, these picks hit the spot without all the hype. I remember trying a smoky twist on an old favorite at a buddy's backyard barbecue last summer – man, it really elevated the evening and got everyone talking. Here's my roundup of five standout drinks that stood out this year, perfect for unwinding or toasting with the guys.

Smoky Mezcal Old Fashioned

This take on the classic Old Fashioned swaps in mezcal for that deep, smoky flavor that's been turning heads in bars everywhere. Mezcal brings an earthy edge from its agave roots, mixed with a bit of sugar, bitters, and an orange peel twist – it's straightforward but packs a punch that lingers just right. Guys who appreciate a robust bourbon will dig how the smoke adds complexity without overpowering things, making it ideal for sipping slow by the fire pit or after grilling steaks. It's gained traction because it feels timeless yet fresh, proving you don't need fancy extras for a damn good drink.

Espresso Martini

The Espresso Martini has made a big comeback, blending vodka, fresh espresso, and coffee liqueur into a bold, caffeinated kick that's perfect for keeping the night going. That rich coffee bitterness balanced with a touch of sweetness gives it a smooth, velvety feel, often topped with a few coffee beans for garnish. It's straightforward to order at any decent bar and hits different when you want something energizing but not too heavy – think late evenings with the crew or winding down a dinner. No wonder it's been popping up more; it's got that pick-me-up vibe without feeling like just another cocktail.

Premium American Single Malt Whiskey (Neat)

American single malt whiskey stepped up big time this year, with distilleries crafting smooth, malt-forward spirits that rival the best Scotches but with a bold U.S. twist. These are often aged in quality oak for notes of caramel, vanilla, and subtle spice, best enjoyed neat or with a splash of water to open up the flavors. It's straightforward sipping that rewards patience, great for those quiet moments reflecting on the day or sharing stories over a glass. With more options hitting shelves, it's easier than ever to grab a bottle that's refined yet approachable – a real go-to for anyone who values a solid, no-nonsense pour.

Hugo Spritz

The Hugo Spritz emerged as a refreshing lighter option, mixing prosecco with elderflower liqueur, fresh mint, lime, and a splash of soda for bubbly ease. That floral elderflower sweetness paired with citrus brightness makes it crisp and not too boozy, ideal for warmer days or casual get-togethers without weighing you down. It's gained fans for being easy-drinking yet sophisticated, kinda like a upgraded sparkling drink that fits right in at a tailgate or patio hangout. Straightforward and satisfying, it's proof you can keep things light while still enjoying something with real character.

Non-Alcoholic Craft Beer

Non-alcoholic craft beers leveled up in 2025, with brewers nailing full-flavored options like hoppy IPAs or crisp lagers minus the alcohol, so you get all the taste without the buzz. These use quality ingredients for that authentic beer bite – think citrusy hops or malty depth – making them perfect for pacing yourself during a game or driving home later. They've become a staple because they let you join in the fun seamlessly, whether moderating or just preferring it that way. It's a smart choice that doesn't compromise on satisfaction, and honestly, some are so good you'd swear there's a kick in there.
